Vita-Learn Central January 17, 2008, Meeting Minutes

Present: Ken Kleinman, Sally Hendon, Harry Schueren, Bob Lindemann, Chris Miller, Lian Callahan, Grant Harper, Genevieve Knight, Eric Hall, Robin Gouin, Ray Ballou, Bob Sargent, Marc Civittolo

Marc gave a presentation of the Mimeo Interactive whiteboard. This is a device that can turn any whiteboard into an interactive whiteboard. It can even be used on a pad of paper on a horizontal surface. The device allows the user to use applications interactively on the whiteboard. It comes with software that allows the user to save work in a notebook for retrieval, and it has a gallery of resources like pictures, graph paper, and tools like protractors. The Mimeo allows the user to make video clips of using the computer. The Mimeo has a capture feature that allows the user to save screen captures right in the Mimeo device without it being attached to a computer. All in all the Mimeo seemed to be an effective interactive whiteboard with a reasonable price. Check with Printer Recovery Concepts, Inc (PRC) for more information

Marc informed us that PRC is preparing for a Spring computer recycling run in Vermont. He urged attendees to fill out the recycling form that is available online at their site.

We toured the new Green Mountain Technology and Career Center building.

We discussed February’s Vita-Learn Central meeting. The time and place of the next meeting still needs to be worked out, status TBA.
